Photography Modeling
Is a minor in Photography or something of the sort beneficial?
More specifically, there’s a college that has a minor in visual communications, and I can choose one of two choices in that, and the one I’d want to do is photography. If I have aspirations of sporting event photography, Modeling Photography, or yearbook photography, would a minor in photography help me get jobs? Or would I have to do the whole major?
A killer portfolio is about the only thing that will get you a job. Formal education in photography might help you with the portfolio, but you can get there without it, as many accomplished photographers have. Just having a degree without any demonstration of your ability will open few doors.
